A New Chapter for a Gator Legend
Brandon Spikes, the former Florida Gators star who once dominated the SEC as an All‑American linebacker, is no longer part of the university’s football staff.
Spikes had most recently served as the assistant director of player development and helped steer the GatorMade initiative, a program designed to smooth the transition from college to life after football.
His return to campus in 2023 under head coach Billy Napier was initially framed as a student‑assistant role, but the move was always positioned as a stepping stone toward his academic goals.
Spikes is now pursuing a master’s degree at the University of Florida’s Warrington College of Business, a decision that reflects his desire to blend his football pedigree with business acumen.
Beyond the locker room, his contributions were highlighted in the Netflix documentary series “Swamp Kings,” which chronicled the Gators’ rise under former coach Urban Meyer.
During his collegiate career from 2006 to 2008, Spikes amassed 307 tackles, 31.5 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks and four interceptions returned for touchdowns, cementing his place in the program’s history.
After a six‑year NFL stint with the New England Patriots and the Buffalo Bills, he now looks to carve out a new path that merges his athletic experience with academic achievement.
