The Breck Athletic Complex, a $175 million youth‑sports development in Big Bend, Wisconsin, has moved from concept to reality after the village board approved its first phase on April 30.
Phase two of the project envisions six baseball diamonds equipped with seating and concession stands, and it earmarks the site as the future home of the Milwaukee Angels and the Midwest Halos clubs.
Community pushback
Opponents, including the advocacy group End Breck and the Three Villages Association, have filed lawsuits alleging that the expansion would generate excessive light pollution, noise and other environmental impacts that violate local ordinances.
The Village of Big Bend has formally received the Phase two plans for review, and officials say the proposal also includes an indoor training facility, additional sports fields and commercial amenities.
While supporters argue the complex will boost local recreation and generate economic activity, the village board must balance these benefits against the concerns raised by residents and associations.
