Southeastern Louisiana University announced this week that Brennan Dumas will join the women's basketball coaching staff for the upcoming 2026‑27 season, a move that has been welcomed by the program's leadership.
Dumas arrives with a résumé that includes stints under several high‑profile coaches and a track record of conference success at both the men's and women's levels.
The university noted that his appointment is still pending formal approval from the University of Louisiana System's Board of Supervisors, a procedural step that typically clears within weeks.
Head Coach Jeff Dow said he is eager to integrate Dumas's expertise, emphasizing that the new assistant will bring a fresh perspective and a winning mentality to the roster.
Championship pedigree
Dumas's coaching journey includes a period at Southern University where he helped the men's team to an 11‑7 conference record, and a tenure with the Texas Longhorns Women's Basketball program that culminated in a 68‑9 overall record, two conference titles and a Final Four appearance.
He also served as a student manager for the UL Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns from 2020 to 2023, contributing to a Sun Belt Conference Tournament championship and a 59‑win stretch under Coach Bob Marlin.
With a blend of analytical acumen and player development experience, Dumas is expected to bolster recruiting efforts and enhance game‑preparation strategies as the Lady Lions aim for a competitive season.
