Brent Porche, the longtime head baseball coach at the University of Texas at Tyler, announced that he will step down from his post to pursue a career as a financial advisor with New York Life.
Porche’s departure comes after a decade that saw him transform the Patriots program into a national contender, highlighted by a Division III NCAA championship in 2018 and consecutive appearances in the Division II College World Series.
During his tenure, he compiled a 345‑151 record over ten seasons, the most wins in program history, and guided the team to a 50‑14 finish in the 2026 campaign, capturing both the Lone Star Conference regular‑season and tournament titles.
A Legacy of Leadership
In a heartfelt statement, Porche expressed gratitude to his family, assistant coaches, and players, noting that the support he received was instrumental to his success on and off the field.
He also reflected on his early coaching years at LSU Alexandria, where a 147‑83 record and two Red River Conference championships laid the groundwork for his later achievements.
Colleagues and alumni alike praised Porche’s impact, citing his ability to develop talent and foster a competitive yet supportive environment.
The university plans to introduce his successor at a press conference scheduled for Tuesday, June 23 at 10 a.m., where details about the transition will be shared.
Porche’s move to New York Life marks a new chapter for the coach, who will now apply his leadership skills to financial advising, helping families secure their futures.
