Columbia University announced on July 20 that it has extended the contract of its head baseball coach Brett Boretti, locking the architect of the program’s resurgence into a multi‑year agreement.
Boretti, now in his 22nd season, stands as the winningest coach in Columbia baseball history, having compiled 421 victories and guided the Lions to eight Ivy League titles and 421 wins over two decades.
A legacy in the making
Under his guidance the program has become a perennial contender, capturing three 30‑win seasons — 2015, 2022 and 2025 — and reaching the NCAA Regional Championship rounds in 2015 and 2022.
The team’s .622 winning percentage in Ivy League play remains the benchmark in the conference, while 19 players have progressed to professional contracts, including 13 drafted selections.
Peter Pilling, Campbell Family Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, praised Boretti’s impact beyond the diamond, noting the coach’s ability to develop All‑Americans, Academic All‑Americans and to foster a culture of excellence.
