Longwood University announced today that Brett Gilbert has been added to the men's basketball coaching staff, marking a significant addition to the program's future.
A Strategic Addition to the Coaching Ranks
Gilbert arrives after five seasons at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where he helped the Spartans secure close to a hundred victories and mentor nine All‑SoCon players while guiding a young roster to a standout offensive efficiency rating.
His coaching journey began at Radford University under Mike Jones, where his contributions were instrumental in the team's rise, and he later earned a business administration degree from Lebanon Valley College, serving as team captain.
Head coach Ronnie Thomas expressed enthusiasm about the hire, stating that Gilbert's proven ability to build meaningful connections with players aligns perfectly with the program's vision for growth.
Gilbert is known for emphasizing development both on and off the court, a philosophy that promises to accelerate Longwood's upward trajectory and sustain its competitive edge in the coming seasons.
