A Game for a Cause
Former Wisconsin Badgers star Brian Butch is turning his love of the game into a force for recovery after a devastating tornado struck the Fox Valley region.
On the morning of August 6, 2026, the Community First Champions Center in Appleton will host a benefit basketball camp that brings together local players, fans and volunteers.
The event is being staged in partnership with Sweat Equity Basketball, and all proceeds will be directed to the United Way and the Community Foundation’s Community Response Fund.
Attendance is open to anyone at no cost, but the organizers are urging supporters to contribute financially, with donations accepted through a Venmo handle @sweatequitybasketball for those unable to be present.
Butch, who grew up watching Wisconsin’s tight‑knit communities respond to crises, highlighted the state’s resilience and generosity in the face of natural disaster.
People from across the state, including Milwaukee and Madison, have already begun sending water and other supplies, underscoring a collective effort that stretches from the western part of Wisconsin to the urban centers.
Those interested in signing up can register online at sweatequitybasketball.com, where details about the schedule and safety protocols are posted.
