Brian Rea takes the helm of Tupelo High baseball
The Tupelo Public School District announced this week that Brian Rea, a seasoned coach with deep roots in northeast Mississippi, will serve as the new head baseball coach for Tupelo High School, taking over from Scott Gann.
Rea, 49, has built a reputation over stints at Nettleton, Corinth, Ridgeland, Madison Central and Ocean Springs, where he guided teams to multiple championship appearances and cultivated a culture of disciplined play.
A look at Rea’s career
Jason Miller, the school’s activities director, praised Rea’s leadership style, noting that his ‘championship mindset’ aligns perfectly with the program’s aspirations to compete at the highest level in the region.
The district’s decision to part ways with Gann came after a mutual agreement to explore fresh leadership, a move the board described as necessary to reinvigorate the program’s trajectory.
Community members and parents alike have expressed optimism that Rea’s extensive experience will translate into tangible success on the diamond, with hopes that the team will contend for district titles in the coming seasons.
