Brianna Murphy has been named the new head coach of Carroll University’s women’s basketball program, taking the reins of the Pioneers as they look to build on a recent share of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) regular‑season title and an NCAA Tournament win on their home court.
A Proven Track Record
Murphy’s coaching résumé includes a stint as an assistant at Division II Maryville University, where she helped guide the Saints to a 41‑22 overall record and a 25‑7 mark in the 2025‑26 season, a campaign that produced eight all‑conference honorees and a Freshman of the Year award.
Before college, she led Monona Grove High School to a regional championship in 2023 and coordinated 16 AAU teams, overseeing more than 160 athletes and fostering development across a wide talent pool.
Academic and Community Values
Murphy holds a Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Wisconsin‑Madison and a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction, credentials that reflect her commitment to the academic growth of student‑athletes. She also brings experience as a basketball trainer and business development manager with I’m Possible Training in Madison, blending sport expertise with entrepreneurial insight.
Leadership Vision
Mike Schulist, Carroll’s Director of Athletics, highlighted Murphy’s energy, dedication to student‑athlete development, and a vision that aligns with the university’s emphasis on academic excellence, holistic growth, and community engagement. The administration believes her blend of on‑court strategy and off‑court mentorship will propel the program forward.
The new coaching staff inherits a roster that has already tasted championship success, and Murphy’s task will be to translate that momentum into sustained competitive play while reinforcing the university’s broader educational mission.
