Bridgeport Central Revives Its Football Program
The Hilltoppers finally broke a 61‑game winless streak with a 21‑8 victory over Wilbur Cross in Week 1 of the 2025 season, delivering the program’s first win since 2017 and sparking optimism among players and fans.
At the helm of this resurgence is new head coach Ryan Ayers, whose career has been built on strength and conditioning and offensive line development at Wilby, as well as years of coaching youth football in Waterbury. Ayers brings a hands‑on approach that emphasizes physical preparation and disciplined play.
Among the returning starters, William Bramwell Sr. stands out as a versatile weapon who lined up at receiver, running back and cornerback last season, averaging 67.7 receiving yards per game and scoring three touchdowns in six contests.
