Bridgestone Expands Adaptive Sports Through $25,000 Grants to U.S. Schools

Eight districts and nonprofits share funding as part of a $400,000 two‑year initiative

Bridgestone Americas has announced a new round of $25,000 grants aimed at broadening access to adaptive sports for students with disabilities across the United States.

The funding, totaling $200,000, will be distributed to eight school districts and nonprofit organizations, reaching 1,439 students in 75 public schools. Grants will be used for curriculum design, specialized equipment and coach training, ensuring that programs meet the diverse needs of participants.

Among the recipients are Adaptive Sports Ohio in Wooster, the American Association of Adapted Sports Programs in Atlanta, and the Rolling Panthers Wheelchair Basketball team based in Massillon. Each organization will receive support tailored to its specific sport and student population.

This round marks the second year of Bridgestone’s commitment, bringing the total investment to $400,000. Five of the previously funded programs are being renewed, while three new grantees are joining the initiative for the first time.

A Voice for Inclusion

Wade Munday, director of corporate philanthropy and social impact at Bridgestone Americas, said the company views sport as a powerful vehicle for building confidence and lifelong skills among students with disabilities.

The grants underscore a growing recognition of the importance of inclusive physical education and reflect Bridgestone’s broader strategy of partnering with communities to create equitable opportunities.
