The Brighton High School girls soccer team has cemented its place in recent Michigan high school sports history by capturing consecutive Division 1 district titles, a feat not achieved since the 2016‑2017 season.
Coach Steve Horn has guided the squad with a simple mantra: focus on delivering their best soccer when the stakes are highest, a philosophy that paid dividends in the championship match.
Senior leaders Maya Bjedov, Lizzy Seiter, Alexis Martin and Brynn Bobby provided the experience and poise needed to steer the team through a demanding schedule.
Sophomore Lena Skelly emerged as a decisive factor in the title‑clinching game against Okemos, scoring twice and setting up the decisive goal for Bjedov.
Goaltender Anna Brown‑Nall secured the shutout with seven saves, preserving the 3‑0 victory and underscoring the team’s defensive solidity.
Looking ahead, Brighton will meet Hartland in a regional semifinal on June 2 at Clarkston, a rematch after a narrow 3‑2 loss earlier in the season on April 21.
