The New Mexico Goatheads have announced the signing of forward Briley Wood to a contract that will run through the 2026‑27 ECHL season.
A Promising Addition to the Roster
Wood, a 23‑year‑old forward from the United States, joins the Goatheads after a standout season with the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL.
During the 2025‑26 campaign he appeared in 71 games for the Rapid City Rush, posting 32 points (10 goals, 22 assists) and helping the club remain competitive in the league.
Stat Sheet Highlights
His rookie year with the Utah Grizzlies was marked by 47 points (20 goals, 27 assists) in 72 games, a performance that placed him among the team’s top contributors.
Wood also logged a single game with the Colorado Eagles earlier in the season, showing his versatility across minor‑league affiliates.
Before turning professional he spent five seasons in the Western Hockey League, skating for Lethbridge, Winnipeg and Wenatchee and developing a reputation for two‑way play.
In the 2023‑24 WHL season he served as an alternate captain for Wenatchee and recorded a career‑high 62 points (28 goals, 34 assists) in 60 regular‑season games, adding 13 points in six playoff contests.
