A strategic addition to the Blue Hose staff
Presbyterian College has announced the hiring of Brittany Shine as an assistant coach for its women's basketball program, a move that underscores the school's commitment to elevating its competitive edge in the highly contested NCAA landscape.
Shine arrives after a distinguished playing career that featured standout seasons at the University of Florida and the University of California, Berkeley. At Florida she earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors and was named Tournament MVP in the Gator Holiday Classic, while her time at Cal included back‑to‑back NCAA Tournament appearances and a pair of 40‑plus win seasons.
Her coaching résumé is equally impressive. Over four seasons at Cosumnes River College she guided the team to more than 60 victories, establishing a culture of consistency and discipline that caught the attention of collegiate programs nationwide.
Before returning to the United States, Shine honed her skills abroad, competing professionally in Iraq, Egypt, Portugal, China, Spain, Turkey, Cyprus, Morocco and Tunisia. The international experience added a global perspective to her tactical understanding and player development approach.
Off the court, Shine graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies and a minor in African American Studies, underscoring a commitment to academic excellence that she hopes to instill in her future student‑athletes.
The hiring of Shine is expected to bring a blend of high‑level playing experience, proven coaching success, and a fresh recruiting network to the Presbyterian program, positioning the Blue Hose for a resurgence in the upcoming seasons.
