Western Michigan’s men’s soccer team traveled to Storrs, Connecticut, where they were handed a 4‑1 defeat by the University of Connecticut.
The Broncos began the contest with a firm grip on possession, but that early control quickly evaporated as UConn’s rapid attack took shape.
Early dominance fades
UConn struck first in the 10th minute, converting a penalty to take the lead, and by halftime they had outshot WMU 13‑2, leaving the Broncos trailing at the break.
After the break, WMU managed a brief resurgence, regaining possession ten minutes in and drawing level when junior forward Vitor Geromel found the net for the third time this season.
The momentum shifted again when UConn added two quick goals in the latter half, sealing a 4‑1 final score despite a late rally that saw Braden Stevanovic fire several shots.
The loss leaves the Broncos searching for their first win of 2026, a quest that will continue when they meet RV Bryant on September 2 in what will be their inaugural encounter.
