A Scoring Threat Joins the Colonels
Brooke Nichelson, a 5‑foot‑11 guard from London, Kentucky, has officially signed with Eastern Kentucky University for the 2026‑27 season, adding a proven scorer to a program that captured the 2026 Atlantic Sun Conference regular‑season title.
Nichelson arrives after a stellar high school career at North Laurel, where she helped the team to a 31‑3 record and a Sweet 16 appearance, while amassing 2,495 points, 1,033 rebounds and 248 three‑pointers.
Her offensive output peaked with a 42‑point performance as a junior, a mark that still stands as the all‑time single‑game record in the WYMT Mountain Basketball Classic.
At Murray State University she continued to develop, averaging 23.8 points and 8.9 rebounds per game before deciding to return to her home state and join the Colonels.
Championship Pedigree Meets New Talent
Coach Greg Todd praised the addition, noting that her leadership and shooting range will complement the team’s championship aspirations.
The signing comes as the program prepares for summer workouts in Richmond, with players set to reconvene in June for official practice, a timeline that reflects the program’s steady progression toward another title run.
