Brooke Opdahl has been named the new Head Football Athletic Trainer for the University of South Dakota Coyotes, a promotion that takes effect ahead of the 2026 season.
She brings four years of service on the USD sports medicine staff, having most recently served as an Assistant Football Athletic Trainer.
Opdahl’s clinical background spans multiple institutions, including stints at the University of Colorado at Boulder, Avera Physical Therapy, and the track & field program at South Dakota State University.
Her professional affiliations include membership in the Northland American College of Sports Medicine, the National Athletic Training Association, and the South Dakota Athletic Trainers Association.
A Strategic Choice for the Coyotes
Head football coach Matt Vitzthum said he is excited to see Opdahl lead the program’s medical efforts, citing her deep knowledge of the team’s needs.
Colby Keegan, assistant athletic director for sports medicine, echoed the sentiment, praising Opdahl’s contributions and anticipating a continued positive impact on athlete health.
Opdahl herself expressed gratitude for the opportunity, stating she looks forward to continuing to care for the student‑athletes who drive the program.
