Brown taps Reveno as head coach
Brown University announced this week that Eric Reveno will take the reins of the Bears’ men’s basketball program, bringing a seasoned leader with deep ties to both the Ivy League and the broader college game.
Reveno succeeds Mike Martin, who departed Providence for an assistant role at the University of Michigan. The transition marks a new chapter for a program that has been searching for stability after a turbulent few seasons.
Reveno’s journey from Stanford to the Ivy League
A Stanford graduate, Reveno spent more than a decade on the Cardinal’s staff before launching his own head‑coaching career at Portland. During his ten‑year tenure with the Pilots, he compiled 140 wins, guided the team to four postseason appearances and earned West Coast Conference Coach of the Year honors in 2009.
His success at Portland, where the squad averaged 20 wins per season from 2008 to 2010, caught the attention of Kyle Smith, the current head coach at Stanford, under whom Reveno previously worked as an assistant. That connection helped seal the deal at Brown, making him the fourth Ivy League coach in recent years to have served under Smith.
