Leadership roster unveiled for 2026‑27 campaign
Brown University's women's ice hockey program announced its leadership structure for the upcoming 2026‑27 season, naming senior forward Margot Norehad as captain and three upperclassmen as assistant captains. The decision follows a season in which the Bears posted strong offensive and defensive numbers and aims to provide continuity as the team moves forward.
Norehad, who led the squad with 17 goals and 12 assists last year, brings a career total of 36 goals and 25 assists to the role. Her 29 points last season placed her among the team's top contributors, and coaches praised her ability to generate scoring chances while maintaining a strong two‑way game.
Joining her on the leadership council are seniors Sam Broz and Rory Edwards, alongside junior Monique Lyons. Broz capped her previous season with a career‑high 22 points, recording 16 assists and six goals, while Edwards posted a 2.52 goals‑against average and a .913 save percentage between the posts. Lyons, meanwhile, topped the team with 22 assists and 39 points, and also shared the team lead with 17 goals.
The quartet’s experience extends beyond a single season. Broz enters her final year with 55 career points, having amassed 15 goals and 40 assists. Edwards recorded eight wins and three shutouts in the previous campaign, underscoring her reliability between the pipes. Lyons, a two‑year starter, has compiled 59 points (29 goals, 30 assists) and earned Second Team All‑Ivy honors as a sophomore, highlighting her consistent impact.
Head coach [Name] emphasized that the captaincy choices reflect both past performance and future potential. "We have a blend of proven leaders and emerging talent, and I’m confident they will guide the Bears to another competitive season," the coach said in a statement. The announcement comes as the program looks to sustain its momentum and contend for conference accolades.
