Brown's Scholar‑All Americans Shine on Ice and in the Classroom
The American Hockey Coaches Association, in partnership with Krampade, has recognized seven members of the Brown University women's ice hockey squad as Scholar All‑Americans, a distinction that melds athletic achievement with academic rigor.
To earn the honor, each student‑athlete must maintain a cumulative grade‑point average of at least 3.75 across both semesters and must have contributed to at least 40 percent of the team's contests during the season, underscoring the program's emphasis on holistic development.
The honorees — Isabelle Gratzl, Jade Iginla, Gali Levy, Zoe Li, India McDadi, Grace Morin and Cadence Richards — have each demonstrated not only skill on the rink but also a commitment to scholarly excellence, reflecting the university's broader mission to cultivate leaders beyond the laboratory and lecture hall.
Coach Sarah Murray praised the group for embodying the program's philosophy, noting that their dedication in practice and their ability to manage demanding academic loads have set a benchmark for underclassmen and seniors alike.
The recognition also highlights Brown's growing prominence in women's ice hockey, a sport that has seen incremental success in recent years as the Bears compete against traditional powerhouses in the ECAC Hockey League.
University officials say the accolade will likely inspire prospective recruits who value both competitive athletics and a strong academic reputation, reinforcing the institution's appeal to student‑athletes seeking a comprehensive collegiate experience.
