Browns Give Back Fuels Ohio High School Football with $250K Equipment Donation

The Cleveland Browns' philanthropic arm equips dozens of schools ahead of the new season

Philanthropic Play: Browns Give Back Fuels Ohio High School Football

The Cleveland Browns' charitable arm, Browns Give Back, announced a $250,000 contribution of football equipment to 30 high schools across Ohio, aiming to ease the financial burden of outfitting teams for the upcoming season.

Coaches were given the discretion to pick the specific items they needed, ranging from game pants and jerseys to cleats, shoulder pads and workout gear, ensuring each program received precisely what would benefit its athletes.

"It helps provide our student‑athletes with the resources they need," said Dugan May, assistant football coach at GlenOak High School, underscoring the tangible difference the donation makes on the field.

Shaq Washington, head coach at Maple Heights High School, added that the gear is a lifeline for players who might otherwise go without proper equipment, noting that "the importance of these donations for student‑athletes who may not have the means to afford the equipment" cannot be overstated.

A Six‑Year Tradition of Support

Over the past six years, Browns Give Back has routinely distributed game pants, jerseys, used cleats, shoulder pads and assorted workout equipment, and this year the effort expanded to include 600 pairs of cleats and sneakers, hundreds of apparel pieces and flag football belts for emerging programs.

Beyond the immediate cost savings, the initiative reinforces the Browns' commitment to community development, giving young athletes the tools to compete at their highest level while fostering a culture of giving back.
