Browns Partner with Italian Federation to Accelerate Flag Football
The Cleveland Browns announced a strategic alliance with Italy’s Federation of American Football (FIDAF) aimed at expanding the sport’s footprint in Europe. The deal is designed to link fan bases on both sides of the Atlantic and to provide systematic support for Italy’s national squads as they chase qualification for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Italy’s flag football programs have been on a rapid ascent. The men’s team captured the 2025 European Championship and settled for silver at the 2022 World Games in Birmingham, Alabama. Meanwhile, the women’s side has been climbing the world rankings, and both squads have secured spots at the 2026 IFAF Flag Football World Championships scheduled for Düsseldorf, Germany. That tournament is being viewed as a crucial milestone on the road to Olympic debut.
To sharpen athlete preparation, FIDAF works closely with the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) to deliver high‑performance training environments. The partnership will also grant Browns supporters unique access to behind‑the‑scenes stories, player profiles and real‑time updates from the Italian scene, deepening engagement across the franchise’s U.S. fan base.
The collaboration underscores a broader vision: using sport as a bridge between continents while positioning flag football for its historic Olympic introduction in 2028. By combining the Browns’ media reach with Italy’s rising program, the alliance hopes to accelerate participation, sponsorship and visibility for the discipline worldwide.
