Bryant Bulldogs Reinforce Coaching Staff with Veteran Additions Ahead of 2026‑27 Season

Head coach Jamion Christian unveils promotions and new hires to revitalize the program and push for an NCAA Tournament return

A Fresh Coaching Lineup Aims to Return Bryant to the NCAA Tournament

Bryant University men's basketball head coach Jamion Christian revealed a series of staff changes that could reshape the program's fortunes for the 2026‑27 campaign.

Morgan Williams, who previously served as a volunteer assistant and director of advanced scouting, has been elevated to an on‑court role focused on offense. Christian highlighted Williams' deep understanding of the team's schemes and his proven ability to translate data into actionable insights.

Zavier Anderson joins the Bulldogs after fifteen years of Division I experience, most recently at FIU where he coordinated defensive strategies. His extensive background at programs such as UAB, The Citadel, VCU and others, including multiple NCAA Tournament appearances, was cited as a major factor in his hiring.

Randy Phillips, known in coaching circles as "Pop", arrives from UNC Greensboro where he directed recruiting efforts and contributed to defensive planning. Before coaching, Phillips played professionally in Canada, France and Switzerland, bringing a global perspective to player development and post play.

The new staff will be bolstered by second‑year associate head coach Harley Fuller, special assistant TJ McEnaney and Sean Oates, who oversees basketball innovation and data analytics. Together they aim to blend experience with modern analytical approaches.

In a statement, Christian expressed enthusiasm for the additions, emphasizing their complementary skill sets and shared commitment to restoring the Bulldogs' presence in the NCAA Tournament. He noted that the blend of offensive creativity, defensive discipline and data‑driven strategy positions the team for a competitive resurgence.

The university's athletic department, based in Smithfield, Rhode Island and affiliated with institutions such as Bryant University, FIU, UNC Greensboro and others, believes the revamped coaching roster will translate into improved on‑court performance and stronger recruiting pipelines across the country.
