Bryant University’s men’s soccer program entered the 2025 season as the clear favorite in the America East Conference, capturing the preseason poll with 47 points — three ahead of Vermont. The Bulldogs’ dominance was underscored by five selections to the preseason All‑Conference team, signaling high expectations from coaches and analysts alike.
Returning from a 17‑2‑3 campaign that saw the team finish the year ranked #10 in the United Soccer Coaches poll and reach the America East Championship game for the third straight season, the Bulldogs bring back a core group that blended defensive solidity with offensive flair.
Among the highlighted players, senior midfielder Paco Fernandez from Sevilla, Spain, was named America East Midfielder of the Year after a standout 2025 campaign in which he netted six goals and added four assists in 22 appearances. Defender Christien Merritt, now in his fifth year at Bryant, contributed eight defensive goals and started 19 of 39 games, anchoring a back line that helped the team keep clean sheets throughout the previous season.
Jojo Ocran, a Baltimore native who began his college career at UMBC, started every game in 2025 and logged 1,550 minutes while scoring twice. Freshman forward Brady Geho from Westminster, Maryland, earned a spot on the All‑Tournament team and contributed seven goals and two assists in 17 games, while fellow midfielder Fernando Delgado from Madrid added two game‑winning goals, including a decisive strike against Massachusetts.
A New Chapter Begins
The Bulldogs open their season on August 20 at Beirne Stadium in Smithfield, Rhode Island, facing UMass in a 6 p.m. kickoff. The matchup marks the first test of a schedule that could see Bryant extend its recent streak of deep NCAA tournament runs.
With a blend of experienced veterans and emerging talent, the Bulldogs are poised to translate preseason accolades into on‑field success. Coach Mike McGuire expressed confidence that the team’s chemistry and depth will allow them to compete for the America East title and beyond.
