Bemidji State University's men's ice hockey program has named three captains for the upcoming 2026‑27 season, appointing Oliver Peer, Luke Roelofs and Hudson Thornton to lead the Beavers.
A historic shift in leadership
Oliver Peer, a senior who transferred from the University of New Brunswick, arrives with a strong offensive résumé, having topped the team last year with 36 points and 20 goals.
Hudson Thornton, a defensive mainstay who appeared in all 36 games a season ago, paces the blue‑line with 18 points and stands as the program's leading scoring defender.
Luke Roelofs brings the most collegiate experience of the trio, having compiled 52 appearances across his freshman and sophomore years.
The selection marks only the second time since the program moved to Division I that three captains will steer the team, the previous occurrence coming in the 2007‑08 season, and the staff has confirmed that no alternate captains will be named for 2026‑27.
