The Buchholz High School football team has cemented its place in local history after securing an eighth straight victory over Gainesville High School, a rivalry that now stands as the longest winning streak in its annals.
First Half Dominance
On Friday night the Bobcats exploded for 43 points in the first half, cruising to a 43-6 triumph that left the Hurricanes without a single point after the third quarter.
Ashton Norris opened the scoring with a 1‑yard rush, while Caden Dowdell’s punt return set up another early touchdown; Andrew Whittemore connected with Dominik Harvey for a 14‑yard strike, and later added a 26‑yard pass before the break.
Joshua Menefee contributed a 7‑yard run, and a safety on the defensive side added two points, pushing the lead to 29‑0 before halftime.
Second Half Adjustments
The second half saw Norris strike again, extending the cushion to 43‑0 before Calvin Comstock finally got the Hurricanes on the board with a 2‑yard touchdown run, providing a rare bright spot for Gainesville.
Andrew Whittemore finished the game with 215 passing yards and two touchdowns, underscoring the efficiency of the Bobcats’ aerial attack.
