A Historic Opportunity for the Bison
Bucknell's baseball squad clinched a spot in the Patriot League Championship series after a decisive 6-4 victory over Navy in the semifinal round.
The win marks the Bison's first appearance in the championship series since 2023, and they will now host Holy Cross, who also swept Army in their semifinal, beginning on Monday, May 18 at Depew Field at Marren Park.
On the mound, starter Brady Hoar delivered a strong outing, while reliever Everett Garber tossed three effective innings. Closer Hadley Maxwell recorded his 11th save of the season, matching Phil Futrick's single-season record set in 2003.
Bucknell erased an early 1-0 deficit with a three-run third inning, a rally sparked by two Navy errors that allowed the Bison to seize momentum.
The team extended their lead to 5-1 by the fourth inning and added insurance in the eighth when Michael Trommer doubled into the gap, driving in an extra run.
With the series set to begin next week, the Bison are poised to translate their recent surge into a potential championship, aiming to cap a historic season with a title.
