Buffalo Pro Soccer Postpones 2027 Season Start Amid Stadium Lease Dispute

Club cites long‑term vision, community investment and upcoming town hall as it reshapes its future

Buffalo Pro Soccer announced that it will not begin play in the 2027 season as originally planned, a decision the club says is designed to safeguard the long‑term success of professional soccer in Buffalo.

A Strategic Pause

The organization has terminated its lease for a planned stadium at Elk and Lee Streets after a dispute with a neighboring facility, removing a key obstacle to a timely launch.

At the same time, Buffalo Pro Soccer is assembling a committed ownership group and is in advanced conversations to lock down a new site for its future home stadium, signaling that the project is far from abandoned.

The club also highlighted the work of the Buffalo Pro Soccer Academy, which is developing the next generation of talent for the professional ranks, and its broader investment in community programs, including free soccer clinics and youth development initiatives.

A community Town Hall for Founding Members will be held on Tuesday, June 9, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on the patio at The Banshee Irish Pub, giving fans a chance to ask questions and shape the club’s roadmap.

Peter Marlette, Jr. and William Malott, key figures in the ownership effort, have been mentioned in internal briefings as part of the group steering the club’s revival.
