The Brantford Bulldogs have completed a trade that brings forward Brayden Lappalainen into their prospect pool, sending a second‑round pick in the 2029 OHL Priority Selection to the Flint Firebirds in exchange.
A Move Aimed at Future Growth
Lappalainen, a native of Tecumseh, Ontario, spent the 2025‑26 season with the Leamington Flyers, recording 14 goals and 21 assists for 35 points in 49 games. At 5‑foot‑11 and 170 pounds, the 2009‑born forward combines speed with offensive upside.
The transaction was finalized during the current OHL trade window, which opened on June 2 and will close at 3 p.m. on June 11, just days before the 2026 Priority Selection in Kingston.
The selection event itself runs from June 12 to June 13 at Slush Puppie Place, with Round 1 kicking off at 7 p.m. on the first night and Rounds 2‑15 following on June 13 from 9 a.m. onward.
Bulldogs management said the acquisition adds depth to a forward group that has been seeking additional scoring punch, and the organization is excited to see how Lappalainen fits into their development plan.
