The Drake women's soccer team turned Senior Night into a celebration of dominance, routing Grand View 5-0 at Mediacom Stadium. From the opening whistle the Bulldogs asserted control, peppering the Vikings' defense with relentless pressure and creating chances at every turn.
Milestones and Momentum
Angela Gutierrez was the catalyst of the evening, striking twice and adding two assists. She opened the scoring in the 35th minute, finishing a slick pass from Isabella Balsley and Trelyn White, and doubled the lead before halftime with a well‑timed strike set up by Addy Basler and Alanna Pennington.
The second half saw the Bulldogs extend their advantage. Alma Beaton found the net in the 63rd minute, and Hannah Renz broke into the scoresheet in the 76th minute with her first collegiate goal, assisted by Joanah Jepsen and Ava Hall. Joanah Jepsen capped the night in the 90th minute, slotting home a feed from Megan Thomsen.
Coach Lindsey Horner praised the team's improved second‑half intensity, noting the 26 shots on target and 14 corners as evidence of sustained pressure. Goalie Addie Ford made a single save, while Grace Thomason contributed in the final eight and a half minutes, underscoring the depth of the squad.
The Bulldogs will look to carry that momentum into Sunday’s showdown with SIUE at the same venue, aiming to build on a performance that left the opposition's net untouched and reinforced a collective sense of confidence heading into the next chapter of the season.
