A 44‑year‑old man from Stone Mountain, Georgia, has been named as the prime suspect in a brazen burglary that targeted the home of former NASCAR driver Greg Biffle in Mooresville, North Carolina.
The break‑in, which occurred in the early hours of January 7‑8, 2024, involved a masked intruder who forced his way into the residence on Doolie Road, lingered for an extended period and ultimately cracked open a safe before fleeing with an estimated $30,000 in cash, assorted jewelry, a backpack, two Glock handguns and a collection of NASCAR memorabilia.
Surveillance footage captured the thief’s careful avoidance of security cameras, and a subsequent investigation traced a pickup truck linked to the crime to an address in Denver, North Carolina. A search warrant executed at that location yielded electronic devices, cell phones and tablets that have become key evidence in the case.
A Broader Financial Probe
While the burglary investigation was already underway, authorities uncovered a separate, more expansive financial fraud scheme that emerged after the tragic December 18, 2025 plane crash that claimed the lives of Biffle’s family members. Unauthorized withdrawals, fraudulent checks and electronic transfers have resulted in losses that could exceed several hundred thousand dollars.
The U.S. Secret Service has joined the inquiry, citing the cross‑state digital activity that facilitated the illicit transactions. Investigators are working to determine how the suspect gained access to the family’s personal accounts and to trace the flow of the stolen funds.
