A Revamped Roster
BYU’s basketball program has locked in the majority of its lineup for the upcoming season, confirming the addition of Polish center Jakub Urbaniak. The 6‑foot‑10 big man brings a blend of size and skill that could reshape the Cougars’ interior game.
Returning Core and Fresh Faces
Only one starter from last year’s squad returns, senior guard Robert Wright III, who is expected to shoulder the bulk of scoring and playmaking duties. Coach’s confidence in Wright’s ability to run the offense and space the floor sets the tone for the team’s offensive identity.
The roster also welcomes Kentucky transfer Collin Chandler, a sharpshooter known for his perimeter shooting, and five‑star freshman Bruce Branch III, whose NBA Draft buzz has already begun to circulate among scouts.
Projected starter Jake Wahlin is slated to man the power forward spot, while transfers Tyler Betsey from Syracuse and Khadim Mboup, a promising backup center, round out the frontcourt depth. Nate Pickens will serve as the backup point guard behind Wright, adding another layer of experience at the position.
Veteran big man Dawson Baker, recovering from injury, is expected to contribute off the bench, and freshman Dean Rueckert, a four‑star recruit, could become a future face of the program if his development accelerates.
With a blend of seasoned returnees, impact transfers and highly touted freshmen, the Cougars hope to turn a modest roster into a competitive force in the conference.
