A Weekend of Commitments
BYU opened its doors to more than a dozen of the nation’s most coveted high school football prospects this past weekend, turning the campus into a hub of activity for the 2027 recruiting class.
The highlight came when three of those prospects — Kamoni Adams, DeMichael Burks and Ryan Wooten — announced their intentions to join the Cougars, sealing their futures with letters of intent that sent waves through the program.
While Adams, Burks and Wooten sealed their decisions, two other highly ranked recruits, Bode Sparrow and Uhila Wolfgramm, also made official visits. Both left impressed by what they saw, though they have yet to commit.
Cornerback coach Lewis Walker captured the excitement on social media, posting that “Provo is on fire” after the flurry of pledges.
Adams, who entered the weekend with 21 scholarship offers, had been courted by programs such as Texas A&M and Florida State before choosing BYU.
Blair Angulo of 247Sports has already forecasted that offensive tackle Manase Brown, a Corner Canyon standout, is likely to follow suit and commit to the Cougars in the near future.
The momentum marks a stark contrast to the previous recruiting cycle, when BYU’s class lingered in the 80s and finished last in the Big 12. Analysts now expect the new class to break into the 60s and perhaps higher.
The program’s recent on‑field successes have helped fuel the surge, and the coaching staff, led by head coach Kalani Sitake, continues to capitalize on that momentum.
Even backup quarterback Brody Rudnicki, who visited the campus alongside his teammate, is slated to announce his own decision later this week, adding another layer of anticipation.
The renewed recruiting buzz also reignites the offseason rivalry with Utah, a competition that has long served as a barometer for the state’s football landscape.
