CAA Football Recognizes 700 Student‑Athletes, 45 from UAlbany, on Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll

Conference celebrates academic achievement alongside athletic performance, highlighting high‑honors distinctions for UAlbany standouts

The Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Football has announced its 2026 spring Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll, a list that now includes more than seven hundred student‑athletes who have combined competitive success with strong classroom performance.

Academic Excellence Across the Board

The honor roll is divided into three tiers — High Honors with Distinction, High Honors and Honors — based on cumulative GPA. This year, 45 members of the University at Albany’s football squad earned a place on the roster, underscoring the program’s commitment to scholarly achievement.

Among the Great Danes, Bodhi Sabongui distinguished himself with a perfect 4.0 GPA, earning High Honors with Distinction. Teammates Nate Cole, Dana Johnson Jr. and Shane O’Neill also received High Honors, while an additional 41 athletes were recognized under the Honors category.

To qualify, each player must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 and be enrolled full‑time, a standard that reflects the conference’s broader emphasis on developing well‑rounded student‑athletes.
