Cade Kurland, a Tampa native who first swung a bat at age four, has become one of the few college players to earn a second stint in the Cape Cod League.
His freshman year at the University of Florida saw him bat .297 with 17 home runs, earning Freshman All‑American and first‑team All‑SEC honors, and he helped the Gators reach the 2023 NCAA championship series in Omaha.
After signing with the Seattle Mariners in 2024, Kurland contributed to the club’s championship run and formed a bond with teammate Aiden Robbins, who wrapped up his Texas Longhorns career that same season.
A shoulder injury forced him to miss the 2025 campaign, but surgery restored his health and Coach Englert welcomed him back for the 2026 summer schedule.
A Summer of Redemption
Kurland now looks to add another title to his résumé before he transitions to Louisiana State University for his final year of college baseball, a move that will blend his Cape Cod experience with the next chapter of his career.
Off the field, he savors the simple pleasures of Cape Cod — morning coffee at Dunkin’, sunrise walks on Chatham beaches, and fresh seafood at Mac’s Seafood — moments that keep him grounded amid the competition.
With the championship on the horizon, Kurland says the league remains the most prestigious summer circuit, and his time on the Cape continues to shape his love for the game.
