A New Chapter for Michigan Basketball
Elliot Cadeau, the Michigan Wolverines’ point guard who was named the NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player, announced on Instagram that he will remain in Ann Arbor for the upcoming season, despite the recent departure of head coach Dusty May.
May’s exit to become the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks head coach marks the end of a two‑year tenure in which he guided the Wolverines to a national championship and secured a 64‑13 record, earning gratitude from fans and players alike.
Interim coach Mike Boynton Jr., who was thrust into the role after May’s surprise move, said the program will lean on the existing chemistry of the backcourt, including Cadeau and forward Trey McKenney, who have both pledged to return.
Boynton emphasized that the team’s style of play will largely stay the same, aiming to preserve the momentum built during the championship run while integrating a five‑star recruiting class featuring Brandon McCoy Jr., J.P. Estrella and Moustapha Thiam.
The Wolverines will open the season with a roster that blends proven championship experience with fresh talent, a combination that could keep them in the conversation for another title in the competitive Big Ten.
