New Amenities for a Growing Community
Cadiz, Ohio, is set to transform its village park with the addition of three new recreational facilities: a pickleball court, a basketball court and a tennis court. The expansion reflects the village’s commitment to providing diverse outdoor activities for residents of all ages.
Ryan Coffman, Cadiz Parks and Recreation Manager, highlighted the rising popularity of the existing basketball courts, noting they have become a hub of weekend play. “We saw an opportunity to build on that momentum and broaden the park’s appeal,” Coffman said.
The project is part of a broader strategy to keep the community active and engaged, especially among youth looking for healthy ways to spend their free time. By diversifying the sports options, the village hopes to attract a wider audience and foster a more inclusive environment.
A Sweet Incentive for Young Visitors
To further encourage weekend visits, the village has partnered with Twisted Scoop, a beloved local ice cream stand. Starting this Friday, the stand will distribute free small ice cream cones to anyone 18 years old or younger who uses the new courts.
The collaboration blends recreation with a simple treat, aiming to make the park a destination not just for sport but also for community fun. Parents and guardians are expected to appreciate the added incentive that turns a casual game into a family outing.
Local officials say the initiative underscores the importance of public‑private partnerships in enhancing municipal amenities without straining the budget. Twisted Scoop’s involvement also showcases how small businesses can contribute to civic life.
The park upgrades are scheduled to be completed in the coming months, with official opening events planned for early next season. Residents are invited to experience the new facilities and take advantage of the complimentary ice cream offer during the inaugural weekend.
