Cal-Hi Sports has released the updated list of nominees for its 44th annual All-State Baseball Teams, a tradition that celebrates the best high school talent across the state. The announcement comes as coaches, players and fans continue to submit nominations, detailing each athlete’s position, school, year, and key statistics.
Among the standout candidates is Christian Nevarez of Valley Christian in San Jose. The junior not only helped his squad capture the CIF NorCal Division I title, he also posted a .312 batting average in the championship game and maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA. His career average sits at .329, underscoring a blend of athletic and academic excellence.
Another name drawing attention is Trace Murchison from Woodcreek in Roseville. This spring he earned all‑league honors in baseball with a .344 average and 31 hits, and he was a key contributor to the team’s CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division III football championship last fall. His dual‑sport prowess exemplifies the multi‑purpose player category that the All‑State selections aim to recognize.
The selection process separates nominees into juniors, sophomores, medium schools and small schools, with distinct teams for large schools and seniors. A final top‑30 overall squad will be compiled, each member receiving a dedicated write‑up, while second and third teams for large schools and seniors will also be announced.
