The Cal Poly men’s soccer squad concluded a Sunday exhibition with a 1‑1 stalemate against San Francisco, a game played under the lights at Mustang Memorial Field in San Luis Obispo.
The deadlock was broken early when the Dons converted a penalty in the 35th minute, only for the Mustangs to reply with an own goal from San Francisco in the 80th minute, preserving a share of the spoils.
Despite the draw, Cal Poly dominated possession, out‑shooting their opponents 13‑8, with juniors Colin Pearce and Roman Anast each generating three attempts, while freshman keeper Matthew Guerra logged a game‑high 33 minutes between the posts.
Veteran goalkeeper Ben Oetman also contributed two saves, underscoring the defensive work of both net‑minders as the team fine‑tunes ahead of its next test.
Next Up: Stanford Test
The Mustangs will travel to face Stanford on Saturday, August 15 at 7 p.m., a match that promises another chance to sharpen their attack before the regular season kicks off.
