Cal Poly's 2026 baseball campaign has etched its name into the program's record books, delivering the school's first NCAA All‑American selections in four years.
Ryan Tayman and Nick Bonn were honored by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, the American Baseball Coaches Association and Perfect Game, marking a milestone that underscores the Mustangs' resurgence.
A Season Defined by Records
Tayman shattered the school record for putouts with 546, tying the single‑season home run mark at 18 while batting .357 for the year.
Bonn, meanwhile, set a new Cal Poly saves record with 17 conversions, posting a 3.44 ERA and striking out 50 batters over 49 2/3 innings.
Both players transferred to Cal Poly and quickly became cornerstones of a lineup that captured the Big West regular‑season and tournament titles, earning a berth in the Super Regional round.
The achievement places Tayman and Bonn alongside previous All‑Americans Brooks Lee and Drew Thorpe, who earned the honor in 2022, as the only Mustangs to receive the distinction in the past half‑decade.
Coach Monty Waltz praised the duo's work ethic, noting that their contributions helped the team finish with a 39‑24 record, the sixth‑most victories in program history.
The upcoming ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division I All‑America teams will be announced ahead of the College World Series, a moment that will further spotlight Cal Poly's rising profile on the national stage.
Beyond individual accolades, the Mustangs' success reflects the competitive depth of the Big West, where rivals such as UC Irvine, UC Santa Barbara, Oregon State, USC, UCLA and Cal State Fullerton continue to raise the bar for collegiate baseball.
With the season still resonating across campus and the broader baseball community, the program looks ahead to building on this momentum, aiming to translate its recent triumphs into sustained excellence in the coming years.
