Expanding the Coaching Roster
University of Tennessee head coach Kim Caldwell announced the hiring of Bill Ferrara and Isoken Uzamere to the Lady Vols basketball coaching staff, filling the positions left vacant by Gabe Lazo and Roman Tubner. The move was framed as a strategic reinforcement of the program’s depth and expertise.
Isoken Uzamere, widely known as "Coach Eas," met with the media for the first time on Tuesday, where she fielded questions about her new responsibilities, her collaboration with Ferrara, and the recruiting challenges she will tackle. Her debut interview offered a glimpse into the philosophy she brings to the role.
In her remarks, Caldwell described Uzamere as a phenomenal human being and a great recruiter, emphasizing her ability to relate to players and the immediate positive impact she has had on the team’s culture. The coach’s endorsement underscored the trust placed in Uzamere’s judgment and work ethic.
The newly assembled staff also includes assistants Jenna Burdette, Angel Rizor and Lexie Barrier, a trio that has been with Caldwell throughout her entire tenure at Tennessee. Their continuity provides a stable foundation as the program integrates the fresh perspectives of Ferrara and Uzamere.
Together, the expanded coaching unit aims to deepen the Lady Vols’ recruiting pipeline and strengthen connections with prospective student‑athletes. By leveraging the combined experience of the entire staff, Tennessee hopes to maintain its competitive edge within the SEC and foster sustained growth for the program.
