Calvin Clements, a redshirt junior offensive lineman for the Kansas Jayhawks, arrived in Frisco, Texas, to take part in the Big 12 Conference media days, where he spoke about his role on the team and his outlook for the upcoming season.
London Assignment and International Exposure
Clements is slated to lead the Jayhawks onto the global stage, as Kansas will meet Arizona State at Wembley Stadium on September 19, marking the team's first overseas fixture in London.
He said the prospect of playing in front of an international crowd excites him, and he views the matchup as a chance to showcase the program's growth.
Clements highlighted the talents of running backs Dylan Edwards and Yasin Willis, noting that Edwards can stretch the field with his diverse skill set while Willis brings a physical, downhill style that adds a new dimension to the offense.
The offensive line's primary goal, he explained, is to capture the Joe Moore Award, given to the nation's top line, and to achieve consistency and health that will allow the unit to dominate the line of scrimmage.
In the quarterback competition between Cole Ballard and Isaiah Marshall, Clements praised both competitors, describing them as elite leaders who have earned his confidence through shared practice reps.
He added that his comfort level with both signal callers stems from the extensive time they have spent together on the field, which he believes will translate into better execution during games.
