A nomination that reflects more than stats
Calvin Clements, a senior tackle for the Kansas Jayhawks, has been selected as a nominee for the 2026 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, an honor that spotlights college football players who excel in community service, academic performance and on‑field achievement.
Clements has started 13 career games at the tackle position, emerging as a steady presence on the Jayhawks' offensive line and a mentor in the locker room.
Service as a catalyst for recognition
Beyond the gridiron, he has taken a leading role in Kansas' summer community‑service initiative, organizing neighborhood clean‑up events, running youth football camps and mentoring high‑school athletes.
The Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, administered by the American Football Coaches Association in partnership with Allstate, celebrates student‑athletes who demonstrate leadership through charitable projects and academic excellence.
The 2026 edition will be revealed in September and will comprise 22 scholarship‑eligible players plus one honorary head coach, with one standout participant set to receive the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy, named for former Florida star Chris Wuerffel.
A diverse selection panel — including former Good Works honorees, collegiate coaches, journalists and other community leaders — evaluates candidates on the breadth and impact of their service, their scholarly accomplishments and their influence on teammates.
Clements' nomination underscores the growing emphasis on holistic development in college sports, highlighting how athletic programs are increasingly measuring success by the positive ripple effects players create off the field.
