Remembering a Legacy
Camden High School’s baseball program has turned a tragic loss into a unifying mission, retiring the No. 12 jersey of former standout Joshwa Boston for the entirety of the season. The move, announced at a packed school assembly, reflects the deep respect the team holds for a player who, after his high school career, remained a fixture in the locker room and a mentor to younger athletes.
The tribute took a tangible form on the field when the Camden squad faced Medford Tech in a tightly contested match that ended 8‑5 in favor of the visitors. Mason Simon, a multi‑sport standout, delivered a dominant pitching performance, striking out eleven batters while adding three runs to the scoreboard, a display that underscored his growing reputation as a clutch player.
Senior Nedison Delarosa emerged as the offensive engine for Camden, leading the team in batting average, RBIs and stolen bases throughout the early stretch of the schedule. His consistent hitting has kept the team competitive despite the adversity of playing without Boston’s presence on the diamond.
Beyond the wins and losses, the season-long dedication has fostered a palpable sense of community around the program. Parents, alumni and local businesses have rallied behind the team, attending games in larger numbers and supporting fundraising efforts that will fund a scholarship in Boston’s name, ensuring his legacy endures beyond the final out.
