Cameron Fens, a 7‑foot center who spent the last season in the Summit League, announced his commitment to the University of North Carolina on August 7, 2024, becoming the sixth transfer to join the program for the 2026‑27 campaign.
His arrival follows a legal battle in Tennessee that culminated in an NCAA decision granting him an additional year of eligibility under the association’s new five‑for‑five rule.
During his most recent college season he posted averages of 14.4 points, 8.7 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game, earning first‑team all‑Summit League honors and a spot on the conference’s all‑defensive squad.
He ranked second nationally in double‑digit games with 12 and was the only player in the league to average a double‑double in conference play, scoring 17.6 points and pulling down 10.3 rebounds per game.
Fens also posted a defensive rebounding percentage of 28.8 percent, placing him fourth in the nation, and recorded 47 blocks, the seventh‑most in a single season for the Coyotes.
Head coach Michael Malone highlighted the need for a physical presence in the paint, stating that Fens will provide the rebounding and defensive grit the team has been seeking as it transitions toward a more robust style of play.
