Fens brings a proven blend of size, shooting efficiency and defensive presence. In the Summit League last season he averaged 14.4 points, 8.7 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game while shooting 57.9% from the field. He was recognized as a first‑team all‑defensive selection and ranked fourth nationally in defensive rebounding percentage according to KenPom.
Eligibility Clears Path for Immediate Impact
The NCAA’s recent ruling on the "five‑for‑five" eligibility rule removes the need for a redshirt year, allowing Fens to compete right away. He secured his fifth year of eligibility through an ongoing lawsuit that challenged the traditional eligibility framework, a decision that has been upheld in preliminary injunctions.
While the NCAA is currently appealing the injunction, Fens remains cleared to play for UNC this upcoming season. His participation eliminates the need for a developmental year and positions him to contribute from the opening games.
