A Strategic Addition for the Tar Heels
North Carolina Tar Heels have secured the commitment of Cameron Fens, a senior center who transferred from South Dakota, to reinforce their frontcourt ahead of the 2026 campaign. The move comes as the program seeks to translate its strong backcourt into a more balanced attack.
Fens arrives with a solid statistical foundation, having posted 14.4 points, 8.7 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game last season while shooting an efficient 57.9 percent from the field. His ability to protect the rim and finish around the basket adds a dimension that the team previously lacked.
While the Tar Heels also welcomed overseas big men Sayon Keita and Alexandros Samodurov, both are still in the developmental stage and have yet to prove themselves at the collegiate level. In contrast, Fens brings a track record of production that positions him as the more immediate option for minutes in the paint.
