Cameron Wallace, a 6‑foot‑8 forward who last played for Little Rock, has officially joined the Southern Miss Golden Eagles for the upcoming 2026‑27 campaign. The move follows a standout stint at Holmes Community College, where he posted 18.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, and a junior season at Little Rock that saw him average 12.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.8 assists.
A Fit for the Future
Wallace arrives in Hattiesburg bringing a blend of size, strength and athleticism. At 230 pounds he is expected to anchor the team’s frontcourt, starting at center and providing a reliable presence on the offensive glass. His defensive contributions included 30 steals and eight blocks during the 2025‑26 season, underscoring his versatility on both ends of the floor.
Head coach Jay Ladner and his staff have long emphasized the value of gritty, role‑specific players, and Wallace fits that mold perfectly. Ladner noted that the forward’s work ethic and willingness to embrace defined responsibilities made him an obvious fit for the program’s culture.
Beyond the statistics, Wallace cited the sense of home he found in Mississippi as a decisive factor in his decision. He also named NBA stars Paul George and Kevin Durant as players he admires, while looking forward to contributing to a squad that aims to contend for a Sun Belt Championship next season.
The addition of Wallace also brings a connection to the broader basketball ecosystem in the region, linking the Golden Eagles with junior‑college powerhouses and reinforcing the recruiting pipeline that has benefited the program in recent years.
