Stevens Institute of Technology has appointed Camille McPherson as the seventh head coach of its women's basketball program, entrusting the program to a coach whose recent work at Capital University turned a modest team into a conference contender.
A Proven Track Record
During her five‑year stint at Capital, McPherson guided the Comets to a 71‑50 overall record and four straight winning seasons, highlighted by consecutive Ohio Athletic Conference semifinal appearances. The team surged to a 16‑10 finish in 2025‑26, opening the campaign with eight straight victories and producing the program’s first OAC Player of the Year in Samaree Perkins, as well as Bri O'Connor, the first player ever to capture both Player and Defensive Player of the Year honors.
McPherson’s coaching résumé also includes a stint as an assistant at Allegheny College, where she oversaw recruiting, social‑media strategy and community‑service initiatives, and a distinguished playing career at Moravian College. There she captained the team, helped reach the 2016 NCAA Division III Championship second round, and amassed 1,427 points and 560 rebounds while earning multiple All‑Landmark and D3hoops.com accolades.
Beyond wins and losses, McPherson emphasizes academic excellence and personal growth, a philosophy that dovetails with Stevens’ mission to develop well‑rounded student‑athletes. She is an active member of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association, WeCOACH, Women Leaders in Sports and Latinx en Athletics, bringing a network of mentors and resources to the Ducks.
