Canada Bound: Oregon’s New‑look Squad Takes Shape in Early August
Oregon’s men’s basketball program is set to begin a three‑game exhibition tour in Canada, marking the first public test of Coach Dana Altman’s revamped roster.
The lineup features ten newcomers — eight transfers and two freshmen — who arrived over the offseason, giving Altman a deep pool of talent to evaluate.
The opening matchup arrives on August 8 at the UFV Athletic Centre in Abbotsford, British Columbia, where the Ducks will face the Fraser Valley Vikings.
Two days later, on August 9, the team travels to Langley to take on the Trinity Western Warriors at the David E. Enarson Gym, before heading to Vancouver on August 11 for a contest with the Thompson Rivers Wolf Pack at the Collingwood Morven Campus.
These games serve as a crucible for Altman’s philosophy, allowing him to gauge chemistry, assess defensive schemes, and fine‑tune rotations before the regular season begins.
Early reports suggest the new transfers — including Fred Payne, Jerry Easter II, Jasper Johnson, Tyrone Riley IV, Dwayne Aristode, Taylor Bol Bowen, Pharaoh Compton and Andrew Meadow — are already making an impact, while freshmen Tajh Ariza and Seven Spurlock add fresh energy.
Veteran guard Sean Stewart, who returns from last season, is expected to provide leadership alongside the coach’s seasoned staff.
